Have to say I'm impressed by the tones and effects in this unit. I've played through just about every modeling amp that's come down the pike in the last 12 years- Line 6, Vox Valvetronix, Boss Cube, Yamaha THR, Marshall Code, and Boss Katana and this unit outshines them in terms of versatility, amp models, and quality and variety of effects. And it does so while lending great playing feel and dynamics through the guitar. You can actually feel the crispness ,sizzle and bite in the distortion of the higher gain amp models like Bogner, modded Marshall, and 5150 clones. Or the sponginess and sag of the Recto models full out. Atomic Amplifiers Amplifire can be thought of as two units in one andmdash; it's both a full-blown tube-amp modeller and a well-specified digital effects unit, when its entire amplifier/cabinet modelling is disabled. As a digital effects unit it can't really be faulted and has to be given major bonus points for the amount of control that it offers, especially over its echo and reverb functions.
